How To Create A Unique And Beautiful Entryway

Gregory Walker

Whether you are moving into a brand new home or remodeling your present one, one of the most important aspects of your decorating will be the entryway to your home. Here are some ideas that will make it beautiful and unique.

The Walkway - Consider brick, flagstone or concrete for the walkway leading up to your front door. If you select concrete, it can be made to look very special with faux painting. Accomplished artists can give concrete the look of any materials already listed, or the look of wood, Italian marble, or even Mexican tile. Besides being beautiful, these treatments are all very easy to care for. All you have to do is spray them with your garden hose. In addition, they will last for many years. In fact, they acquire more beauty with the passage of time.

The Flooring - Whether you have selected a large wrap-around porch or a small outside entryway, consider using a contrasting material for the flooring. For example, if you selected tile for your walkway, consider flagstone for the entryway. Selecting a distinctive mat to place in front of the main entrance is not only a beautiful touch, but it is practical, too.

The Front Door - Consider selecting a custom door for your main entryway. Even though you might spend a bit more money on a custom door, it will be unique and built to last.

  • Consider a massive wooden door with intricate carving as part of the design. A brass door handle would be gorgeous.
  • If you want to make a bold statement, select a door with a color of paint. Brick red, turquoise and deep green are all great choices. Black is a very dramatic choice that would also be beautiful.
  • If you want to go with something more subdued, select an off-white door, but add touches that will make it stand out. For example, including Tiffany glass in the window would be breathtaking. In addition, while it would allow light to come into the house, people would not be able to invade your privacy. Glass door knobs would be perfect with this type of door.
  • If your entryway is large, consider French doors, which are magnificent. Choose from yellow, red, dark hunter green, cobalt blue, black and many other colors, or go with real wood tones. Consider black wrought iron filigree in the window design for extra charm, and pick out fabulous door handles that will complete the look you want.

Have fun planning the entryway to your home.

About Me
A Welder in the Office

Hi, I'm Caroline. Welding has always been really fascinating to me. One day, when I was at work in my office, we had a leaky pipe in the ceiling. After calling a plumber, he called a welder who came to repair the large, open pipe. As we were all sitting there trying to work, the welder just came in and started repairing the pipe! I had never worked on a construction site before, and I probably never will. But I started thinking about what it would actually be like to work on a construction site, which led to me exploring construction themes and writing this blog!
